Next Generation Breaking League

About MBC:

Massive Break Challenge was established in 2006. An Exhibition style format highlighting the next generation. The Breaking league holds several battle rounds each year that lead up to the championship round finale, held at Northwest Folk Life Festival, Seattle WA. The Breaking league has served over 20 different schools, serving hundreds of youth in the State of Washington. Many MBC alumni are now competing on a pro level. The events are free for competitors and audience.

About Open Sessions:

Throughout the year, we host multiple open sessions, each led by one or two professional Breaking Coaches. These sessions offer a relaxed, open-format environment where young dancers can gather, dance, and train. It’s an excellent opportunity for kids to immerse themselves in dance, receive personalized coaching, and enjoy a community atmosphere centered around their passion for breaking.

Body Rock Breaking Color System

Coaching:

The Body Rock Breaking Advancement System is a pioneering program in the world of Breaking, inspired by the martial arts; colored belt system. This first-of-its-kind system uses special shirts to denote student levels in breaking, progressing from white for beginners to black for masters. Advancement through levels involves demonstrating increasing technical, foundational, and tactical skills. This transparent, goal-oriented approach helps students and parents understand progress and areas for improvement. This innovative system aligns with the evolution of breaking, preparing the next generation for professional levels and competitions on par with the Olympics. It is expertly crafted by Jeromeskee, a certified Olympic judge.

The system, while fostering championship-level talent, prioritizes joy and personal development, recognizing diverse long-term goals among students. Pre-level students start with neon colors, and testing for advancement begins at the beginner/intermediate level, conducted twice yearly by guest adjudicators. The evaluation covers foundation/combos, cypher, performance, battles, creativity, endurance, knowledge, and legacy and honor values. This comprehensive system not only hones breaking skills but also instills values like leadership, team work and empathy, preparing students for all life areas.
